Health Secretary visit to Healthier Radcliffe
Rt Hon Mr Jeremy Hunt MP visited Radcliffe Primary Care Centre on Friday 26th June and took the opportunity to meet patients, front-line staff including GPs, practice nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacist, paramedics, practice director and receptionists as well representatives from Bury CCG, Bury Council and Pennine Acute NHS Hospitals Trust.
Mr Hunt learned about the Healthier Radcliffe pilot that launched in December 2013 with six local GP practices offering the people of Radcliffe access to more GP appointments, seven days a week. Appointments are available from 8am-8pm on weekdays and 8am-6pm on weekends and bank holidays. Redbank Group Practice hosts the Healthier Radcliffe pilot.
Dr Peter Thomas, Organisational Medical Director for Bury GP Federation and a practising GP at Redbank Group Practice, said: “It was a privilege to welcome the Secretary of State for Health to Radcliffe and speak to him about our ground-breaking project to bring seven-day access for patients. He showed great interest and particularly keen to speak to the people making the project work on the ground.
